About CMFC

Overview

Crotched Mountain Freestyle Club offers a unique blend of elite coaching, personal attention, and a close-knit mountain community. We are one of the fastest-growing freestyle ski teams in New Hampshire, with a strong track record in both moguls and slopestyle competition.

Our experienced coaches are passionate about creating well-rounded skiers who can confidently tackle all terrain. Unlike larger programs, CMFC delivers a more personalized approach, with smaller training groups, more coach-to-athlete interaction, and deeper relationships between families, coaches, and skiers.

We combine high-level training with a grassroots, family-friendly feel—making CMFC a top choice for families looking for a ski team that prioritizes both performance and community. Simply put: we train hard, we have fun, and we support each other every step of the way.

History

Crotched Mountain Freestyle Club was founded in 2021 to support the rapid growth of the freestyle ski team at Crotched Mountain Ski & Ride. As more young skiers joined the team and began to excel in moguls and slopestyle events, it became clear that a strong support system was needed.

CMFC was established as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization to meet that need—raising funds for coaching, training equipment, athlete scholarships, and team development. In just a few seasons, our athletes have made their mark on the Eastern Freestyle circuit, competing with top-tier programs and earning respect across New England.

Today, CMFC continues to grow as a standout ski club in New Hampshire, driven by passion, progress, and community support.

Meet the Coaches

john carbonneau.avif

Program Director

John Carbonneau

John has been the leader of our freestyle program from it's inception. A nationally ranked mogul skier in his younger years. John now enjoys spending his time on the hill sharing his passion and knowledge for the sport with the next generation. He hopes to one day send an athlete from his program to a nationals event.

jack carbonneau.avif

Coach

Jack Carbonneau

Jack joined our program in it's 2nd year of operation and has been an irreplaceable part of building the program to what it is today. Jack is father to our coaches John and Tessa, and says that one of his greatest joys in life has been to coach skiing with his kids. Guess his age for yourself! But he's still known to throw some tricks in the bumps from time to time.

brent paradis.avif

Coach

Brent Paradis

Brent has also been with our program from its 2nd year. A father to one of our programs first ever competitive mogul skiers. Brent was around from day one helping out in anyway he could. So we asked him to be a coach. As a team parent Brent has gone above and beyond the call of duty to help us grow this program and we could not be more thankful to have him.

tessa carbonneau.avif

Coach

Tessa Carbonneau

Joining the program in it's 5th year, Tessa is the third Carbonneau to join the team. With a background in competitive skiing, competitive gymnastics, and a masters in special education. She is certainly our most qualified educator. Tessa loves to coach because, she wants to give other kids the opportunity to fall in love with skiing and chase their dreams in the same way her family was able to do.

Axel Bolton.avif

Coach

Axel Bolton

The latest addition to our coaching staff. Axel joined our program in its 6th year of operation. With two kids in the program and a love for the sport of skiing he has jumped in to help support the program in everyway he can. Axel says that his favorite part of coaching is getting to watch our athletes grow and develop as skiers and as people.

Melinda - 2.avif

President of Crotched Mountain Freestyle Club

Melinda Hewitt

Our freestyle family extends beyond our coaches, including all the parents and athletes that have joined the program. A few of them even decided to start a club to help our cause. Melinda has stepped up to lead the charge. As a founding member of the club she has graciously stepped into the role of president and has done an amazing job in helping us organize and support our growing needs.
